Waste Management Award Phoenix

The Phoenix Prize has been awarded since 1999 in Austria to practicable and/or innovative and creative solutions and concepts relevant to waste management by the Federal Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism (BMNT) and the NGO Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV). The winning team in 2018 (Knauf AMF Deckensysteme GmbH) created a system on calcining for zero waste. In second place (Graz Technical University) was a plant for recuperation of non-iron metals from the combustion residues accruing during thermal waste treatment. The third prize (NÖ Umweltverbände in St. Pölten) was awarded for a smartphone application on education on food waste minimization.
