The Berlin energy and climate protection programme (BEK) is the "roadmap" towards climate neutrality, in which strategies and measures are defined.

Berlin's Waste Management Plan 2012-20 specifies the key steps needed for the development of waste management in the city into a modern, closed-loop system.

It entered into force on 6 April 2016 and sets the framework for Berlin’s climate protection and energy policy.

The new Waste Management Law (KrWG) transposes the EU Waste Framework Directive (Directive 2008/98 / EC, AbfRRL) into German law and extensively modernises existing German waste legislation.
