Bans are a strong prohibitory regulatory instrument that is utilised to restrict the manufacturing, distribution, use, or disposal of defined products, services and/or substances that are deemed to present unacceptable risks to society or the environment.[1] Bans are particularly relevant in instances where inaction bares a high level of associated risk and present clear and concrete expectations to the market.
